Terms of service

Last updated 2026-05-20

These terms govern your use of Zindex - the API, the MCP server, the dashboard, the playground, and every surface at zindex.ai. By signing up or using the service, you agree to them.

The privacy commitments live in our Privacy Policy. These terms cover the contractual rules of engagement.

1. Accounts

You need an account to use the persisted-scene features (creating, editing, rendering scenes by ID, listing revisions). You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity that happens under your account or API keys. Tell us at support@zindex.ai as soon as you suspect unauthorized access.

Account creation requires a working email address and email verification before write endpoints unlock. You may close your account at any time from Settings → Account; closure is final, immediate, and irreversible from our side.

2. Plans and billing

Free, Builder, and Growth plans are available; Enterprise is contact-sales. Plans, prices, and rate limits are described on the pricing page and in the API documentation. Paid plans are billed monthly or annually in advance via Stripe. You can change or cancel your plan at any time from Settings → Billing.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not refund the unused portion of a billing period for self-service cancellations. Custom refund requests for unusual circumstances go through support@zindex.ai for operator discretion.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service to break the law or violate someone else's rights.
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, billing, or access controls.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the rendering engine or any other component beyond what is publicly available.
  • Use the service to send spam, phishing, malware, or otherwise abusive content.
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network without prior written authorization.
  • Resell or sub-license access to the service without a written agreement.

We reserve the right to suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. For repeated or egregious violations we will close without notice.

4. Content ownership

You own the diagrams, scenes, and other content you create on Zindex. We make no claim to your content. The Privacy Policy describes how that content is stored and protected.

You grant us the limited license required to host, render, validate, store, and back up your content for the purpose of providing the service. This license terminates when you delete the content or close your account.

5. Publicly-hosted scenes

Scenes are private by default and visible only to your account. You can opt in to publishing a scene to a public URL of the form https://zindex.ai/s/<sceneId> via the playground or by setting privacy to public through the API. Anyone with the URL (including search engines and AI crawlers) can then view the rendered scene and its source JSON.

You are responsible for the content you publish. Public scenes must comply with Section 3 (acceptable use) and applicable law. Do not publish content that contains personal data of others, confidential information you are not permitted to share, or material that infringes third-party rights.

Any visitor can report a public scene via the in-page Report this scene link. Reports enter a moderation queue we review. If a scene violates these terms or our hosted-content policies, we will disable its public URL and notify you by email with the specific reason. The scene itself remains in your account; you can edit it and re-publish if you address the issue, or it stays private indefinitely. Takedowns are reversible; serious or repeated violations may also lead to account action under Section 9 (termination).

6. Our content

The Zindex platform - the rendering engine, the API, the documentation, the website, the brand - is ours. The open-source MCP server (@zindex-ai/mcp) is published under its declared license; everything else is proprietary. You may use the service per these terms but you may not copy, modify, or distribute the platform itself.

7. Warranty disclaimer

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." We work hard to keep it reliable, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every render will produce the result you expect. Use the platform on the understanding that diagram-rendering software has edge cases.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zindex's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Zindex in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) US$100. Neither party is liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, special, or punitive damages - including lost profits, lost data, or loss of business - except where such limitation is prohibited by law.

9. Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or that pose a security or operational risk to the platform or other users. On account closure - by either party - your data is deleted per Section 7 of the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via support@zindex.ai with at least 15 days' advance notice. Continued use of the service after the change date constitutes acceptance.
